Just this morning at around 12:10AM, August 15, 2018, combined elements of San Jose Municipal Police Station led by PSUPT MARK DARROCA, Antique Provincial Mobile Force Company led by PCINSP FRANCISCO PAGUIA JR and 301st Brigade Intelligence Task Group led by 1LT LABRADOR, while serving Warrant of Arrest (WOA) to Joven Ceralvo alias “Ka Lex” and Jason Talibo alias “Bebe” for the crime of Frustrated Murder, has encountered personalities who belong to the Regional Taxation Implementing Group (RTIG) of Komiteng Rehiyon Panay (KRP) of the CPP-NPA-NDF at Barangay Atabay, San Jose, Antique.
Killed during the encounter were Jason Talibo y Estopido alias “Bebe”, 27 years old (DOB: Oct 21, 1990) of Indalayon, Igbaras, Iloilo (subject of WOA) identified as finance officer of Southern Front of KRP; Karen Ceralvo y Cagampang alias “Liway”, 41 years old (DOB: March 3, 1977) of Viscara Subd, Kalibo, Aklan, identified as the the educational training staff and member of the RTIG; Felix Salditos y Velasco, 60 years old (DOB: Oct 12, 1958) of Ilog, Negros Occidental also a member of the group; Jason Sanchez y Tagurda, 28 years old (DOB: June 18, 1990) of Igtuble, Tubungan, Iloilo identified as Assistant Finance Officer of Southern Front Committee; Rene Yap y Agustin, 60 years old (DOB: Dec 17, 1957) of Pob. Leganes, Iloilo also a member of RTIG; Liezel Badiola alias “Mayang” of Nabas, Aklan identified as Cultural Staff of RTIG and political officer of Southern Front, KRP and one (1) unidentified male person. On the other hand, Joven Ceralvo Alias “Ka Lex” who is one of the subjects of the Warrant of Arrest was able to escape along with others and is now at large. Continuous manhunt operations in pursuit of the personalities who fled from the encounter was launched by the PNP and AFP to determine their whereabouts.
Recovered pieces of evidence were three (3) hand grenades; two (2) 40mm ammo, two (2) rifle grenade, one (1) Homemade single shot shotgun, two (2) homemade .38, one (1) homemade KJ9, three (3) magazines of KJ9, two (2) empty magazine of unknown FA, two (2) Laptops (apple mac book pro, lenovo), one (1) netbook (emachine), twenty-two (22) analog cellphones, seven (7) android cellphone, five (5) tablets, one (1) Canon DSLR camera, five (5) pcs canon DSLR spare batteries, two (2) pocket wifi, one (1) powerbank, three (3) SD cards, one (1) USB, twenty-two (22) assorted sim cards, three (3) transistor radios, four (4) disposable lighters, four (4) watches, fourteen (14) assorted cellphone charger, four (4) headsets, one (1) keyboard, Assorted wires, one (1) bolo, one (1) black Honda XR150, Personal IDs, Extortion Letters (with Napoleon Tumagtang Command, Southern Front, KRP), Personal Notebooks, List of Persons and companies being extorted, Bank books and ATM Cards along with Assorted Medicines, White envelop (used for extortion letters), Cash amounting to 34,601.00 and eight (8) Backpacks. These recovered items are now in the custody of San Jose Municipal Police Station.
The group was monitored in the area by the intelligence personnel three weeks ago and based on information received by intelligence community, the group is plotting more extortion activities in San Jose, Antique.
The government is serious in its fight against crimes and illegal drugs and in ensuring a peaceful community. We will not allow therefore the NPAs to engage in extortion activities under the guise of collecting revolutionary taxes. There is only one legitimate government and that is the Philippine Government. No one is above the law and those who transgress the law shall face the bar of justice.
In this case, they decided to put up a fight thus our operatives have no recourse but to defend themselves resulting in the death of the alleged NPAs. With this accomplishment, I require all police stations within my AOR to beef up their security and prevent the NPAs from launching attacks in retaliation following this accomplishment. The PNP will use its resources to defend the communities particularly the remote municipalities and business owners who are continuously victimized through extortion activities by this group.
The extortion letters, firearms, money and various items recovered from this group is a big proof that the NPAs are continuously engaged in criminal activities.
