THE PROVINCE of Aklan and the three (3) Municipalities namely Banga, Buruanga, and Kalibo passed the 2018 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the assessment conducted in 2017 as basis for the conferment of the 2018 Seal.
These LGUs passed all the core assessment areas (ALL IN) (Good Financial Housekeeping, Social Protection, Disaster Preparedness, and Peace and Order), and from the essential assessment areas (Business-friendliness and Competitiveness, Environmental Management, and Tourism, Culture & Arts) which conferred them as Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) recipient.
As passers of the SGLG, several opportunities awaits LGU. These include entitlement to access the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF), facilitation of loan approval through the issuance of Good Financial Housekeeping Certification, and other program windows subject to specific program guidelines.
From its pilot run in 2010, the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) now SGLG, promotes transparency and accountability in local operations. SGLG therefore, challenge local governments to continue good governance practices while providing better public services.
The Conferment Ceremony of the Seal is set on October. This recognition continues to inspire LGUs to raise the bar of Public Service.
