Dengue cases in Aklan increased by 74% according to Health Office

AKLAN PROVINCIAL Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (APESRU) reported during their regular updating with RHUs and hospitals that the province was able to record a total of 1,623 cases of Dengue from January 1 to November 11, 2018.

This accounts to 74 percent increase compared to last year.

Top municipalities with high cases of Dengue include Kalibo with 437 cases, Batan 115, Numancia 109, Banga 104 and Altavas 103.

The PHO recommends the "4S strategies" for dengue management. (1) Search and Destroy the breeding sites of mosquitos, (2) Self-protective measures like insect repellants, mosquito nets etc. (3) Seek early medical treatment for signs and symptoms like fever, rash and joint pains (4) Say Yes to fogging to prevent dengue outbreaks.##
