15 BARANGAYS IN BURUANGA DECLARED AS “DRUG-CLEARED BARANGAYS”

The Municipality of Buruanga was the first LGU declared by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug-Clearing Operation as “Drug-Cleared” in the entire Province of Aklan.

Out of 15 Barangays, 7 are Unaffected Barangays composed: Bagongbayan, Bel-is, Cabugan, El Progreso, Habana, Panilongan and Tag-osip as Drug Unaffected Barangays and 8 Affected Barangays composed: Alegria, Balusbos, Katipunan, Mayapay, Poblacion, Nazareth, Santander and Tigum as Drug-Cleared Barangays after the deliberation of Regional Oversight Committee in Iloilo last April 19, 2018.

Hon. Concepcion P. Labindao, Municipal Mayor, Buruanga, Aklan released copies of the certification last September 17, 2018 to all Barangay Captains showing that each barangay in the Municipality of Buruanga has complied with the parameters on drug-cleared barangays provided in Section 8 of the Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 3, Series of 2017, otherwise known as “Strengthening the Implementation of the Barangay Drug-Clearing Program”.

The certifications, issued by the Region 6 (Western Visayas) Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing Operation, were officially released by the PDEA Region 6 to the municipal government on April 19, 2018.

In a statement, PSI WILLIAN N AGUIRRE, Chief of Police of Buruanga MPS said, that he is glad that municipality’s efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs, with the help of the MADAC, BADAC and Buruanganon in coordination with PDEA, have paid off. Bannering the Station’s initiative dubbed: BAKLAD (Buruanganon At Katokhang Laban at Ayaw sa Droga). Buruanga MPS together with MLGOO, MSWDO, MHO were able to facilitate an effective and efficient Community Based Rehabilitation Program.

“Yet, I encourage all local community to be watchful in safeguarding our barangay in order to maintain the present status”, PSI Aguirre quoted.

A barangay is declared drug-cleared based on the following parameters: non-availability of drug supply; absence of drug transit/transshipment activity; absence of clandestine drug laboratory; absence of clandestine drug warehouse; absence of clandestine chemical warehouse; absence of marijuana cultivation site; absence of drug den, dive, or resort; absence of drug pusher; absence of drug user/dependent; and absence of protector/coddler and financier; active involvement of barangay officials in anti-drug activities; active involvement of Sangguniang Kabataan to help maintain drug-liberated status of the barangay; existence of drug awareness, preventive education and information and other related programs; and existence of voluntary and compulsory drug treatment and rehabilitation processing desk.

UTILITY WORKER NG MUNISIPYO NG BURUANGA NAKURYENTE HABANG NAGLILINIS NG ALULOD

To the rescue ang mga kapulisan, mga bombero at rescuer ng MDRRMO sa bayan ng Buruanga sa lalaki na ito na nakuryente sa bubong ng munisipyo.

Sa impormasyon mula sa Buruanga PNP, naglilinis ng alulod ang biktimang si Diolito Iguiron y Salmingo nang masagi niya ang main line ng kuryente.

Napansin ng mga kasama niyang empleyado ang kanyang pagkatumba sa bubong at agad na humingi ng rescue sa mga otoridad.

Agad na dinala sa Buruanga municipal hospital ang 49-anyos na utility worker ng munisipyo. Ayon kay PO2 John Zolina, imbestigador, nawalan pa ng malay ang biktima.

Kalaunan ay inilipat rin sa ospital sa Kalibo ang nasabing biktima matapos magtamo ng sugat sa kanyang ulo.

Handa namang magbigay ng kaukulang tulong ang munisipyo para sa pagpapagamot ng nasabing casual employee.
