11 persons died daily in Aklan according to 2018 statistic


DEATH INCIDENCE in Aklan contracted by almost 2 percent in 2018 based on the record of the Philippine Statistics Authority.

A total of 3, 981 deaths were reported last year, lower by 75 corpses compared to 2017 record of 4, 056.

The biggest decline in death was recorded in Banga with 21 percent (from 198 in 2017 to 157 in 2018), followed by Malay with 12 percent (from 204 in 2017 to 179 in 2018), and Batan with 11 percent (from 183 in 2017 to 162 in 2018).

On the other hand, the highest increase was registered in Lezo with 25%, followed by Madalag and Numancia with 16% and 15%, respectively.

Among the 17 municipalities, Kalibo, the capital town, recorded the highest number of deaths with 1, 786 (or 44%), Ibajay with 310 (or 8%), and New Washington with 182 (or 5%).

On the average, a total of 11 persons died daily in Aklan last year.

Most deaths took place in January with 406, translating to a daily average of 13 death occurrences.

This is followed by month of October with 373, April with 355, May with 346, and February with 344.

Meanwhile, most of those who died last year reside in Kalibo with 610 comprising about 15 percent of the total deaths, followed by Ibajay with 368 (or 9.3 percent), and New Washington with 316 (or 8 percent), and Banga with 273 (or 7 percent).

According to Provincial Statistics Officer Antonet Catubuan, data on death were taken from certificate of death submitted to PSA by local civil registry offices every end of the month. (Peter Mangilog / PSA-Aklan)
