DOLE RELEASES P2M FOR 630 EMERGENCY EMPLOYMENT BENEFICIARIES IN BORACY

Last July 8, 2018, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) paid the last salary of 630 emergency employment beneficiaries under the DOLE Emergency Employment Program or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) in Boracay. The salaries paid amounted to P2,035,785.50.

The 630 beneficiaries were the informal sector (IS) workers and indigenous people (IP) who were affected by the temporary closure of the resort island. They were the second batch of workers who benefited DOLE’s package of assistance to provide emergency employment to affected workers and IPs in Boracay.

In a simultaneous activity, DOLE, in coordination with Land Bank of the Philippines – Caticlan Branch also released the cash cards of 564 Boracay Emergency Employment Program – Adjustment Measures Program (BEEP AMP) beneficiaries.

These beneficiaries received their initial financial support under the BEEP AMP, a program which offers a comprehensive package of assistance to formal sector workers affected by the temporary closure of the Boracay Island.

Displaced and suspended workers were provided with 50% of the prevailing minimum wage in Region 6 or P4,205.50 while retained workers who do not receive regular wage were provided 25% of the prevailing minimum wage in the region (P2,102.75) covering a 3-month period, deposited in lump sum./ dole6
