Aklan’s birth registration drops 4% in 2018
Birth registration in Aklan declined by almost 4 percent in 2018 based on the record of the Philippine Statistics Authority.
A total of 13, 696 were registered last year, lower by 481 compared to 2017’s 14, 177 birth records.
Of this number, 51% (or 6, 936) were males, and 49% (or 6,760) were females.
Kalibo, the capital town, obtained the highest registration with 6, 392 (47%), followed by Libacao with 1, 226 (9%), Ibajay with 1, 222, Malay with 1,036 (8%), and Nabas with 569 (4%).
Almost all municipalities showed a drop in registration except for Batan which exhibited an increase of 42% (from 223 in 2017 to 316 in 2018), Libacao with 37% (from 892 in 2017 to 1, 226 in 2018), Malinao with 29% (from 312 in 2017 to 402 in 2017), and Kalibo with 2% (from 6, 283 in 2017).
On the other hand, the highest decline in registration was noted in New Washington with 44% (from 413 in 2017 to 232 to 2018), Madalag with 37% (from 530 to 335), and Numancia with 32% (from 113 to 77).
October has the most number of registration recorded with 1, 353, followed by November and March with 1, 206 and 1, 191, respectively.
Meanwhile, the highest increase in the registration was observed in November with 25%, followed by December with 10%, and May with 7%.
The data were derived by PSA-Aklanfrom the certificate of live birth submitted by local civil registry offices every end of the month./PSA-Aklan
