The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 6 has already provided over P100 million assistance to residents and workers of Boracay affected by the closure of the island.
As of July 5, the agency has already released a total of ₱100,755,230.68 for its three programs in line with Boracay closure which includes the Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situation (AICS), Sustainable Livelihood Program and Cash for Work.
Under its AICS program, DSWD has provided a total of ₱39,575,990.68 financial assistance to 16,326 clients which include the transportation, educational, medical and burial aid.
For transportation assistance, a total of 10,464 clients have already been assisted with a total amount disbursed of ₱25,291,590.68.
Transportation assistance are given to displaced workers who will return to their respective provinces and residents who opt to find a job in areas outside of Boracay.
The agency likewise provided ₱11,125,900.00 educational assistance to 4,842 clients.
For medical assistance, DSWD has served 1010 clients with a total amount disbursed of ₱3,111,500.00 while 10 clients were given burial assistance amounting to P47,000 in total.
The AICS program has a total allocation of P80 million.
Livelihood assistance
The DSWD has likewise released livelihood grants for the three batches of beneficiaries under SLP as of June 30.
The agency has released a total P56,055,000 for 3,737 beneficiaries.
Each recipients received P15,000 as start-up capital or additional capital for new or existing enterprise.
The latest of which were the P11,685,000 amount released to 779 recipients for the third batch.
For the first batch and second batch, the DSWD has released a total P19,845,000 and P24,525,000 given to 1,323 recipients and 1,635 recipients, respectively.
Profiling and project assessment/grant utilization planning for the next batches of SLP beneficiaries of livelihood grants are on-going.
For its SLP program in Boracay, the DSWD allocated a total of P250 million.
Cash for Work
The first batch of recipients for DSWD’s cash for work program has likewise started their work last June 11. A total of 1,898 workers were hired as part of the first batch.
The agency has released a total of ₱5,124,240 for the first 10 days of work of 1,584 workers from the three barangays. Remaining workers who have not claimed their salary can claim their salary on the second payout.
Each workers will receive P323.50 daily wage for 30 days.
