Aklan’s best performing school paper advisers named

All four nominees of Aklan have qualified as Best Performing School Paper Advisers in Region 6 for this year; three of whom are elevated to the Hall of Fame award.

The Search for Best Performing Adviser in Western Visayas is conducted yearly by the Philippine Information Agency – 6 as a way of appreciating and recognizing the efforts of the school paper advisers in promoting responsible and developmental campus journalism.

The Aklanon awardees are all teaching in public secondary schools which have been active and consistent participants in the Campus Journalism Seminar-Workshop conducted yearly by PIA-6.

Elevated to the Hall of Fame for receiving the award in the last three years are Gaynor A. Calizo, adviser of the school publication "Scholar’s Gazette” and Merly M. Bustamante of “Pahayagang Iskolar”. Both are from Regional Science High School for Region VI in Old Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan.

Likewise, Joel E. Dela Cruz of the “Tintang Espektro” publication of Makato Integrated School (MIS) in Makato, Aklan will also be a recipient of the Hall of Fame Award.

The other Aklanon awardee for this year and second time to receive such award is Jennie T. Zaragoza, adviser of the publication “Ink Spectra” of MIS.

The best performing advisers for 2018 will be recognized during the College Press Conference and Awards on November 29 at the Kalantiao Hall of the Mansion Hotel in Iloilo City.##
