Dengue cases in Aklan increased by 74% according to Health Office

AKLAN PROVINCIAL Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (APESRU) reported during their regular updating with RHUs and hospitals that the province was able to record a total of 1,623 cases of Dengue from January 1 to November 11, 2018.

This accounts to 74 percent increase compared to last year.

Top municipalities with high cases of Dengue include Kalibo with 437 cases, Batan 115, Numancia 109, Banga 104 and Altavas 103.

The PHO recommends the "4S strategies" for dengue management. (1) Search and Destroy the breeding sites of mosquitos, (2) Self-protective measures like insect repellants, mosquito nets etc. (3) Seek early medical treatment for signs and symptoms like fever, rash and joint pains (4) Say Yes to fogging to prevent dengue outbreaks.##

DREDGING SA AKLAN RIVER BALAK ITULOY NG STL PANAY SA KABILA NG MGA UNANG OPOSISYON

ITUTULOY PARIN ng STL Panay ang planong pag-dredge sa Aklan River sa kabila ng mga oposisyon ng mga ilang residente at maging pamahalaang lokal ng Kalibo.

Sa sulat na ipinadala sa Sangguniang Bayan ng Kalibo nitong Nobyembre 8, sinabi ni Patrick Lim, Managing Director ng STL, pinahayag niya na nakompleto na nila ang mga dokumento para sa proyekto.

Matatandaan na una nang nagpasa ang Sanggunian ng Resolution No. 2018-460 na nagpapahayag ng pagtutol sa pagsisimula ng proyekto dahil sa kakulangan umano ng mga kaukulang dokumento.

Kaugnay rito, sinabi ni Lim na nais ng kanilang grupo na muling makipagpulong sa Sanggunian. Hiniling niya na isantabi ang nabanggit na resolusyon at magpasa ng panibago na pumapayag sa pagsisimula ng parehong proyekto.

Idinagdag pa ng managing director na base sa Department of Public Works and Highway matatapos na sa Disyembre ang revetment wall sa ilog sa Bakhaw Norte, Kalibo bilang proteksyon sa mga residente roon.

Mababatid na marami sa mga residente ng Brgy. Bakhaw Norte ang tumutol sa proyektong ito at hiniling na maproteksyunan sila sa pamamagitan ng revetment wall.

Napagkasunduan ng Sanggunian sa kanilang regular session na sa susunod na linggo ay makikipagpulong sila sa STL Panay kaugnay ng flood mitigation project ng gobyerno probinsiyal ng Aklan.##

Nang mapansin umano siya ay agad itong tumalon sa gusali. Sinubukan pa umano ng mga kasama na pigilan siya pero naging mabilis umano ang pangyayari.

Nabalian ng mga paa at kamay ang biktima. Agad siyang isinugod sa Provincial Hospital at kalaunan ay inilipat sa isang pribadong ospital kung saan siya binawian ng buhay umaga ng Martes habang ginagamot.

Hindi pa malinaw sa pahayag ng pamilya at katrabaho kung ano ang malalim na dahilan ng pagpapakamatay ng biktima.

Napag-alaman ng Energy FM Kalibo na huling nagpost ang biktima sa kanyang facebook account gabi ng Linggo na nagsasaad ng kanyang problema sa pag-ibig.##

DALAWA PATAY NANG SUMALPOK SA PUNO NG MAHOGANY ANG ISANG MOTORSIKLO SA BAYAN NG IBAJAY

PATAY ANG dalawang estudyante sa bayan ng Ibajay makaraang sumalpok sa puno ang sinasakyan nilang motorsiklo sa Brgy. Naile hapon ng Martes.

Kinilala ang mga namatay na sina Wencis Evangelio, 17-anyos, ng Brgy. Malindog at John Eric Magsael, 19, ng Brgy. Monlaque sa nasabing bayan, pawang Grade 12 students.

Ayon sa report ng Ibajay PNP, sakay umano ang dalawa sa motorsiklo na menamaneho ng kaklase nila na si Bryan Joseph Belinario, 19, ng San Jose Ibajay.

Binabaybay umano ng magkaklase ang provincial road ng Naile nang mawalan ng kontrol ang driver sa menamanehong motorsiklo. Lumagpas ito sa kalsada saka sumalpok sa mahogany.

Agad isinugod ang tatlo sa Ibajay District Hospital pero hindi na umabot pa ng buhay ang dalawang backrider. Nagtamo ang mga ito ng malubhang sugat sa ulo at sa iba-ibang bahagi ng katawan.

Nakalabas naman ng ospital ang driver at nasa pangangalaga na ngayon ng kapulisan. Nabatid na nasa impluwensiya ito ng nakalalasing na inumin.##

Umani ito ng iba-ibang reaksiyon. Bagaman marami ang hanga sa dedikasyon ng mga guro marami rin ang nag-aalala sa kaligtasan nila at maging sa mga residente sa lugar lalu na kung malalim at malakas ang agos ng ilog.

Kaugnay rito, isinusulong ngayon ng committee on education sa Sangguniang Panlalawigan ang pagbuo ng isang task force na magpaplano sa pagtayo ng ligtas na daanan para sa mga guro at residente.

Kabilang sa magiging bahagi ng task force ang gobyerno probinsiyal, lokal na pamahalaan ng Libacao, Department of Agriculture, DENR, DPWH, NCIP, at DepEd.

Pag-aaralan ng task force kung anong uri ng tulay ang itatayo sa lugar at kung saan kukunin ang pondo para rito. Makikipag-ugnayan din sila sa mga residente roon tungkol sa nasabing plano.##

DAR to empower Boracay’s Ati

AGRARIAN REFORM Secretary John R. Castriciones said the executive agency would extend support services to the indigenous people of Boracay Island who recently received agricultural lands from the government.

The land titles covering a total of 3.2064 hectares, which were personally handed by President Rodrigo Duterte, were given to 44 members of the Ati group under collective ownership.

“We will be providing the farmer-beneficiaries with planting tools and implements to maximize their efficiency when it comes to productivity,” Sec. Castriciones said.

He added that the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) would soon provide various trainings to help develop the land and uplift the economic lives of the Ati.

Community leader Delsa Justo, who received the Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) in behalf of the group, said they will take care of the land for their children and the future generations of Ati.

Aside from the Ati, Sec. Castriciones said that the DAR is also eyeing to distribute lands to the Tumandok who lives on some of the wetlands in the island.

“I have already made the necessary coordination with Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Roy Cimatu so that they would be able to develop and preserve the land,” Sec. Castrciones said.

Along with the distribution of CLOAs to the Ati, 439 farmers from the towns of Buruanga, Tanggalan, and Malay, Aklan, also received land titles, covering a total of 270.8288 hectares, from the President.##

Ati people receive Boracay land titles

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte kept his promise to implement land reform in Boracay Island when he led the distribution of six Certificates of Land Ownership Awards (CLOA) to 44 members of Aklan’s indigenous people on November 8, 2018 at Barangay Manoc Manoc Covered Court, Malay, Aklan.

Duterte told the Ati group to take care of the awarded lands. “Till the land, make it productive so that you, your children and your grandchildren are assured of a quality life,” he said.

“Huwag kayong magpasalamat sa akin, magpasalamat kayo sa Diyos (Do not thank me, thank God),” Duterte added.

The new Ati landowners received a total of 3.2064 hectares of agricultural lands. These land titles are under collective ownership following the indigenous people’s tradition of preserving the property.

Community leader Delsa Justo received the CLOAs in behalf of the group. “Nagpapasalamat po kami kay Pangulong Duterte, pinadala siya ng Panginoon para tulungan kami. Aalagaan namin ang lupa dahil ito ang ipapamana namin sa aming mga anak at susunod na henerasyon (We thank President Duterte. He was sent by God to help us. We will take care of these lands for our children and the future generations),” Justo said.
